Our Concept

A passion for buildings with history. The belief that tourism and environmental awareness can go hand in hand. And hosts who want to share their love for the island of Tenerife.

Distinctive Design...

The building was constructed in the 1960s in the style of the 1920s. A bit of Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Bauhaus – several houses of this kind with characteristically rounded corners were built in Garachico during that time. We have extensively refurbished the core of Villa ARTE and, in collaboration with Roque Damián Hernández Afonso, our local architect, have highlighted the building’s style more clearly. Our long-time friend, interior architect, and visual artist Prof. Jörg Bachhofer also advised us on this project and developed a modern, minimalist interior design with a very special aesthetic.

... Meets Sustainability

We are dedicated organic hoteliers and active in the movement “Gemeinwohl-Ökonomie”. We remain true to our set of values with Villa ARTE as well: We emphasize natural building materials and furniture, focus on saving resources, and strive for consistent CO2 reduction. It was important to us during the renovation to preserve the unique charm of the historic structure and carefully transform the ensemble into a sustainable modernity.

Why did we, as Bavarian hoteliers, invest in Tenerife, almost 4000 km away from our hotel in Nuremberg?

In short: We fell in love with the island during a vacation. And since the idea of a new property in the Canary Islands stuck in our minds, , we started searching for a suitable house for an apartment project. Months later, we were at the right place at the right time: In late 2021, while having breakfast in a small bakery in Tenerife, an email newsletter with an interesting offer in Garachico arrived on our smartphone. It was our last vacation day, but we managed to schedule a house viewing before flying back – direct hit! We immediately had a vision, the location was perfect, and the view of the Atlantic from the rooftop terrace was overwhelming. We assessed the historic building substance as a feasible challenge, especially since we had already successfully transformed a landmarked building into the Bio- and Designhotel Kunstquartier. Three hours later, we held a preliminary contract in our hands, the first architectural discussions followed, and since May 2022, Villa ARTE is ours.

After over 500 days of preparation for planning, building permits, and logistics, we started the renovation in late 2023 and expect to welcome the first guests at Villa ARTE from October 2024.
