Puerto de la Cruz
Puerto de la Cruz was formerly the port of the higher-altitude town of La Orotava and gained significance after 1706, when the trading port of Garachico was destroyed by a volcanic eruption. Today, the port no longer plays a major economic role, but attractions such as the colorful city center, the famous “Loro Parque” zoo, green oases like the botanical garden and “Taoro Parque” above the rooftops of the city, the city beach “Playa Jardín,” and the seawater swimming pool “Lago Martiánez” make the town a worthwhile excursion destination.
If you want to turn night into day, Puerto de la Cruz is the right choice in the otherwise laid-back north. Here, you'll find numerous trendy bars and clubs where you can dance the night away!
