La Orotava
La Orotava is a small town with magnificent Canarian architecture from the 17th and 18th centuries. Large parts of the town are protected as historical monuments. While walking through the old town, the remarkable wooden balconies stand out—each corner presenting a new photo opportunity. The most famous building in La Orotava is probably the Casa de los Balcones on Calle San Francisco, known for its balconies with particularly intricate carvings.
La Orotava is famous for its particularly festive Corpus Christi procession, which takes place over intricate flower carpets and lava sand paintings—the "Alfombras de La Orotava."
